Blessing Of The Fleet

The Blessing of Fleet ceremony includes islanders from across generations. Many family members have taken part in it. This time-honored tradition has been passed from country to country and generation to generation. Put-in-Bay brings together local ferry boats, first responders, and commercial vessels for the Blessing of the fleet.
Put-in-Bay’s local churches Mother of Sorrows Church and St Paul’s Church will bestow a blessing of the fleet and ask for protection from the years storms, rough water, and other perils.
Something is mystifying about the time-honored traditions passed down from generation to generation within the seaport communities. Put-in-Bay Ohio locals and visitors alike join together to offer a blessing to the various maritime vessels among the island’s fleet. This tradition is in place to safeguard the vessels against the coming year’s storms and protect the fleet, the passengers, and the crew from harm.
Put-in-Bay’s local clergy from St Paul’s Church and Mother of Sorrows Church will be present to bless. The event will be held at the downtown docks near the Jet Express Terminal. The event begins at 11:00 AM with a reception afterward until 2:00 PM
