Mills Cup Race
June 5 - June 7
Mills Cup Race Sponsored By The Toledo Yacht Club
The Invitational Mills Cup Race is sponsored by the Toledo Yacht Club. This is known as ‘THE’ premier sailing race of the Lake Erie islands. Dating back to 1907, the original purpose of the event was to test the navigational skills of the Lake Erie sailors. Since then, the race has been held every year and grown in popularity.
The Mills Cup Race is unique in that the competition is at night. Put-in-Bay became more involved in the race in 1981 when the race began at the harbor light and ended at Put-in-Bay. Thirty-five years later, this historical tradition still stands as one of the greatest races on Lake Erie. The Put-in-Bay Yacht Club has become the social focal point for the event. The morning after the race, you will find the Put-in-Bay Docks and Marina full of these sleek, colorful racecraft.
