Island Wine Festival – October 5th

Put-in-Bay’s annual Island Wine Festival will take place at the Put-in-Bay Winery on Saturday, October 5th, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event features a sampling of both domestic and imported wines. You will be able to buy wine by the glass, bottle, or case, as well as food
items to complement the wine. Admission is $10 and includes a wine glass. Sample tickets are $1 each and will be sold at the door or in the tent. Most samples are $2 to $5. There will also be a silent auction that benefits the Lake Erie Islands Historical Society.

Put-in-Bay Fall Ball

One of the premiere October 2019 Events is the annual Put-in-Bay Fall Ball held at the Put-in-Bay Resort & Conference Center. This annual event started over 20 years ago as a small gathering of friends to celebrate the upcoming end of Summer has grown into one of the biggest weekends at Put-in-Bay Ohio of the season. The Fall Ball attracted over 2000 people last year! This year’s event for our hotel guests will again be held at the Put-in-Bay Resort poolside!

The fun-filled Fall Ball party features discounted rooms, and starts on Friday, October 2nd at 5 pm with kegs of complimentary beer, An all you care to eat Pizza Buffett,  A Hot tub party and DJ Adubb all included in your room rate!

Saturday, we gather again at 12 noon to 7 pm for a cookout with more Kegs of Frosty Cold Adult Beverages and a barbecue with hot dogs, hamburgers, Brat’s with side dishes and Pizzas all FREE! We’ll have the college football games on our three big screens, DJ Adubb playing the hottest tunes, Cornhole games and the hot tub fired up!

Lake Erie Islands Conservancy Annual Meeting – October 5th

The Lake Erie Islands Conservancy will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, October 5th, at the Middle Bass Island State Park pavilion from 3:15 to 5 p.m. Grill food will be provided. Please bring a covered dish to share. You can ride the Miller Ferry from their downtown Put-in-Bay dock at 3 p.m. and ride back to the Bay at 5 p.m. RSVP by emailing or calling Chair Lisa Brohl at 419-366-2087 or leiconservancy@gmail.com. We are holding our meeting at Middle Bass this year to highlight the excellent land protection and volunteers we
have had on Middle Bass in the past. Hopefully, a lovely fall weekend to enjoy!

October Events 2019 Patrick Myers Scholarship Benefit – October 6th

Plan to attend the Patrick Myers Scholarship Benefit at the Boathouse on Sunday afternoon, October 6th, from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be island entertainment by Bob Gatewood, John Salamon, Westside Steve, Jamison, and That Allie Girl. Enjoy fun and games for kids presented
by the high school basketball team, a 50/50 raffle, plus traditional raffles. Everyone
is welcome to attend.

St. Paul’s Animal Blessing – October 6th – 4 to 4:30 p.m.

Each year, on Sunday closest to St. Francis Day, pet owners gather to give thanks for all God’s creatures and especially their pets; and the joy they share with their humans. The custom of blessing animals in early October connects people to Francis of Assisi, who was known for his love for all creatures. Gather on the churchyard near the labyrinth (weather permitting). In the case of marginal weather, please gather in the rectory garage area. Dogs and cats must be on a leash, no longer than six feet long, or in a pet carrier. All animals from hamsters to camels are welcome. Bullfrogs, sea snakes, llamas, and guinea pigs are also welcome.

South Bass Island Lighthouse Tours October 12th – 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you’ve never been to the top of a lighthouse, you’ll get a chance to go free on Saturday, October 12th at the South Bass Island Lighthouse. Climb the stairs and take in the magnificent view from the top. The South Bass Island Lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and located on the southern tip of the island not far from Miller Boat Line’s Lime Kiln Dock. The grounds are open to the public dawn to dusk free of charge. The lighthouse and grounds are also available for rental for private parties and special group events. Call 419-

Put-in-Bay Oktoberfest Weekend – Oct. 12th & 13th

Put-in-Bay’s Oktoberfest is held under the tent in the Village Park on the corner of Delaware Avenue and Hartford Avenue in Downtown, Put-in-Bay. The festivity is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Put-in-Bay Restaurants will be set up in the tent serving a large variety of German food. Wine is also available for those who don’t love German beer. Live German music adds to the excitement for young and old. Get a discounted, two-day pass if you want to attend both days.

October Events 2019 Rock on the Lake – Oct. 17th to 20th

New this year is Rock the Lake, a music festival held for four days, October 17th through 20th, at Mr. Ed’s Bar & Grill with live bands, acoustic artists, events (bingo, euchre, corn hole, silent auctions, etc.) with the purpose of raising money for local charities and having fun. Mr. Ed’s Bar and Grille and the Commodore Resort will serve as a home base and be donating a percentage back to the charity. There will be
plenty to do, and there will be a silent auction and raffle off some fabulous items and memorabilia! Rock by the Sea presents this Inaugural Put-in-Bay event. Bands at the event include Blessid Union of Souls, Oval Opus, JD Eicher, RBTS Vice President, Steve Everett, Rude Music, Michael Tolcher… and MORE!

The Wake – Oct. 19th – Round House Bar

Come mourn the passing of another fun season at the Round House Bar’s annual “Wake” Party in Put-in-Bay, Ohio. There will be live music and be prepared to dress in black if you want to attend the festivities. It’sThis has been a local tradition for nearly 30 years. Haunted Bar Crawl 2019 – Oct. 19th Plan for an evening of thrills and chills as William G. Krejci and Viktoria Zakharova, hosts of the Haunted Put-in-Bay Ghost Walk, lead guests on a spooky lantern-guided bar crawl through downtown Put-in-Bay on Saturday, October 19th. Hear about the haunted history of such places as The Park Hotel, Topsy Turvey, and Hooligans, all while enjoying refreshing adult beverages.

Other locations will also be visited along the way. The whole thing steps off at 7 p.m. at the southeast corner of DeRivera Park, across from the Boathouse, and runs until around 9:30 p.m. This event is open to anyone age 21 years or older and is free. Attendees are responsible for purchasing their own drinks. Halloween costumes are highly encouraged.

October Events 2019 Close Down Parties

Watch for close down parties at many of the island establishments this month:

The Upper Deck at the Boardwalk will close the 2019 season on Sunday, Oct. 13th, with a Fish Fry which benefits the Verhoff Scholarship which is awarded to one Put-in-Bay School senior at graduation each year. The restaurant will be serving its regular menu from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the fish fry benefit will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome!

The Round House closes on Sunday, October 27th, when Ray Fogg performs at the traditional turning off ceremony of the Whiskey Light for the 2019 season.

The Goat officially ends the season on Sunday evening, October 27th, with its Ryte Spyder Nyte Potluck. The original and traditional White Spider Night was always on Labor Day, but Scotty says with the extended season, it should now be at the end of October. New this year is that it will be a potluck. Bring a dish or favorite dessert. There will be plenty of great drink specials. Everyone is welcome!

Hooligans will hold its closedown party on Monday, October 28th. This is the last chance to be Irish until the next real St. Patty’s Day on March 17th, 2020.

Mr. Ed’s will host the Browns Backers for their October Events 2019 closedown party on October 27th. Come watch the Browns take on the Patriots at 4:25 p.m. Although not in October, don’t forget to attend the Turkey Fry Close Down at Heineman Winery on Saturday, Nov. 2nd, from 1 p.m. to ???. Everyone is welcome to stop
