Laurie Utterberg, the owner of Sunstoppers, is also known as “The Sunglass Lady” She has been in business at Put-in-Bay since 1986. She is an expert in her field travels throughout the country visiting Boat Shows. She got her start by selling sunglasses at Trade Shows and Boat Shows. It wasn’t long before she realized how essential sunglasses and proper eye protection is for those adventurous souls with a passion for outdoor fun.
After arriving on Put-in-Bay, Laurie decided it was time to open a store. The Put-in-Bay locals were helpful and welcoming in getting the business going. Her shop is located in the original “Sunglass Hut” store, where you will find Laurie and sometimes her partner, Anne Spettel.
